An update on project mushroom
We are ramping up efforts to finish building Project Mushroom asap — a safe platform to promote connection, mutual aid, and transformative action at a critical moment in history.
As you may have heard, Twitter is on a fast track to disaster — we want you to have a place to go before that happens.
Project Mushroom is designed to reclaim power from the scorched earth policies of billionaires on a warming planet. We are building the world that needs to exist, because there is no time to waste. We intend for Project Mushroom to be a place for creators and their communities to connect and share ideas — kind of like the idea of mutual aid and skills sharing that The Phoenix was founded on, except way more interactive.
We’ve launched a kickstarter and already have over 1000 backers. Our waitlist to join the platform is now more than 30,000 people, from 158 countries. We’ve started to slowly onboard some early adopters and our technical team plans to onboard all of the waitlist before December 15th.
Project Mushroom is on pace to have a million active users by January 1st. We hope to become a go-to place on the internet for people seeking safety, justice, and systemic change.
All that becomes easier with your support — whether directly through the Kickstarter, or by spreading the word about Project Mushroom with your community.
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the climate emergency. We know that climate justice is deeply connected to other forms of social justice, and that marginalized people are always the most impacted. Yet misinformation, fear and harassment distract us from collective action. We believe it’s still possible to help our warming planet and the people on it.
Our mission is to create a place that promotes connection, mutual aid, and transformative action at a critical moment in history — centered in joy, justice and action. A place where harassment and bigotry cannot thrive.
In the meantime, you can make sure you’re up to date by joining the waitlist and supporting the kickstarter.
What you can do, currently.
